Welcome to New Harbor
Utopia Awaits!

Welcome to The Pea Pod! Here’s to another beautiful month!
For my newcomers: in my newsletter, I’ll be going over updates for my WIPs, recaps of my progress, writing tips, book shoutouts, and a monthly poem.
Fire in Flight Updates
Currently proofreading the final draft of Fire in Flight, and I’m over halfway through. I’ll be updating the word and page count next month (I’m certain I’ll finish it next month).
As for the Kickstarter and release dates, it’s a little up in the air right now. Life has been getting in the way, but I’ll keep you updated.
In the meantime, here’s an exclusive excerpt from the Prologue! Check it out:
The darkness often harbored tragedies.
The desolate streets of New Harbor welcomed the darkness, however. There was always room for sins and scandals in a city masquerading as a utopia. And the moon was the only witness to it all.
Beyond the fog stood the sniper upon the rooftops of southern Canton, masked in the moonlit night. The black-clad figure had their sights on a slow car several blocks down. They kneeled along the edge, then aligned their sleek rifle.
No one would suspect a thing, yet everyone would hear the sirens.
I’ll be sharing the full Prologue and the first scene of Chapter 1 for the Kickstarter, when it happens. Once again, I’ll keep you updated on the progress.

Writing Tip - Don’t Write What You Know
If you’re a writer, you probably hear this a lot: “Write what you know.” But guess what. You’re the author of your own story. You get to decide what you want to write.
Now, don’t get me wrong, you must put in the time and research for your story. But don’t feel unmotivated because you don’t think have the ability to write a certain subject. You do.
While authenticity makes a written piece all the more powerful, you can create your own authenticity. In a previous post on Instagram, I talked about how I knew next to nothing about Egypt in the late 1800s. But I have a book idea set during that time period, so I started doing some deep research (and I still am today).
So, don’t give up on your ideas. You need time and commitment to bring them to life, but inspiration will be what makes your story powerful.
Book Shoutout
Shadows of Memory by Abigail Hammond
Every month, I’m shouting out a different book! This month’s shoutout is dedicated to Abigail Hammond and her sci-fi mystery debut, Shadows of Memory.
Book Blurb:
A scientific breakthrough. A twisted motive. A chance to regain everything that was lost.
Everyone in New Ancadium has been having the same dream. Nobody knows what caused it, or what it means. But the more time that passes, the more apparent it becomes that it was anything but ordinary.
Holly Beckett, an up and coming scientist, is pulled into the investigation against her will. In a desperate attempt to uncover the truth, she seeks help from trusted friends and dangerous criminals alike.
Oliver Cahill, an ordinary accountant, may be the key to solving the case—if Holly can help him before his brain, and his reality, is torn apart.
As the mystery unravels, new feelings blossom, old wounds are reopened, and reality is threatened.
The past might just destroy the future.
The Eternal Dusk
Did you know my sister has her own webcomic? It’s called The Eternal Dusk, and it’s available to read on WebToon, ComicFury, DeviantArt, and Instagram!
Poem - Into the Spirit Realm
I remember this infinite place
Of beauty and stars aligned,
Etched around with every trace
Were signs that welcomed the blind,
I danced around with every lace
I fled beyond the silver-lined,
But of this land, oh lost in space
I had to become undefined
I woke to see the burning light
And realized what I had lost,
The wings that led my endless flight
Were nothing more than timid frost,
To live is embarking in a fight
To find what I did to endear this cost,
But nothing learned, I live in spite
Flung and vehemently tossed
To hear these words that ring with pain
Make the world around me sting,
I wonder how I earned this bane
To be led by only a silver string,
Reach out to feel the misty rain
And there I will hear the quiet ring,
Where I once began, to be slain
Oh left to cry, and fleetly sing
I light the night, engage the spark
I chart my own weary helm,
To home I go and beyond the park
Passing through the nimble elm,
I reach the journey's end of dark
But no, I will not feel the whelm,
Instead, I stand upon the arc
Falling back into the spirit realm
